Girl students at the varsity staged a protest here on Tuesday after the purported incident.

Four employees of the Akal University in Punjab's Bathinda have been terminated following an incident where girls in one of the hostels in the campus were asked to strip by a warden.

The hostel warden had allegedly asked the girls to strip "to check who among them had dumped a used sanitary pad in the hostel washroom".

Girl students at the varsity staged a protest here on Tuesday after the purported incident.

Two security guards and two wardens were later terminated.

"We received a complaint from the students following which a committee was set up and four employees were immediately terminated," said MS Johal, Dean, Academics, Akal University.

Johal added, "We are trying to maintain a healthy relationship and two-way communication with the students so that such incidents do not occur again."

Last year, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had ordered transfer of two teachers at a government school in Fazilka district for stripping school girls in a similar incident.
