UP: Yogi govt removes 80 lakh ‘ghost’ beneficiaries from anganwadi schemes

Earlier, the Assam govt had 14 lakh ‘ghost’ beneficiaries from its anganwadi schemes.

In a significant development, the Yogi Adityanath government has reportedly removed 80 lakh “ghost” beneficieries from  anganwadi schemes. 

Secretary to the Women and Child Development ministry, Rakesh Srivastava told Economic Timesthat  the figures came up as part of a state survey to draw the Centre’s share of funds for the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

Earlier, the Assam govt had 14 lakh ‘ghost’ beneficiaries from its anganwadi schemes.

Srivastava, however, told ET that the Centre is yet to categorise the UP list of beneficiaries as ‘ghost’ beneficiaries.
