Rail traffic on the Delhi-Kanpur route was disrupted after Patna-bound Vikramshila Express ran over cattle, the railways said on Monday, adding the incident was reported between the Kanchausi and Jhinjak railway stations in Uttar Pradesh.
The train remained stranded on the route for nearly three hours and the breaks of the train were damaged and jammed in the incident.
"The Vikramshila Express reported a cattle run over around 7.47 p.m. between Kanchausi and Jhanjhak railway stations," a senior railway official said.
"Cattle being run over is a huge problem in this section and it happens almost everyday," he said.

"The section was cleared for traffic in an hour. Some trains have been delayed due to this. The Vikramshila Express' locomotive had been changed and it will be on its way any minute now," he added.
The traffic was later restored on the railway line and the train was taken to Jhinjhak station.
The official said that the Bhagalpur bound train commenced its onward journey after replacing the engine around 11.45 p.m.
