Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has sought the help of corporate house in constructing a 100-feet tall statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
The proposed statue will be built on the banks of river Yamuna in Ayodhya and it will cost around Rs 330 crore.
Instead of spending money from the government exchequer , Yogi Adityanath wants corporate houses to allocate some money from their respective CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds for this purpose that will boost tourism in Ayodhya.
In addition to Ayodhya, the UP government wants corporate houses to help in development of other places of religious significance like Kashi and Mathura.
UP Tourism Minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that the government has sought the help of corporate houses because it can’t spend money for such religious purposes.
She, however, made it clear that the corporate houses are totally free to take a call in this regard.
“It’s good if they extend help. It’s okay even if they refuse to do so,” she said.
