The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Uttar Pradesh today arrested a suspected ISI agent and one more suspect from Faizabad district of the state.
According to officials, the arrested ISI agent has been identified as Aftab Ali, son of Wajid Ali. He is a resident of Khawaspura area of the district.
The ATS, reports said, was interrogating another suspect to establish further links.
The two were nabbed during a joint operation launched by the ATS and the UP Intelligence, reports said.
"He was in constant touch with Pakistan High Commission," state ATS said in a statement.
"ATS has also detained another person related to espionage activities," Assem Arun, IG, UP ATS said.
The operation was being led by Additional SP Rajesh Sahni. Reports said that few more people are under the lens of security officials.
It is said that ISI had trained Aftab and that he was in regular contact with the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.
ATS officials said that they have concrete proof that Aftab had links with ISI, adding that a picture of Cantonment area was found in his phone and they are scrutinising the chats to gather more evidence.
