Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of South Kashmir today.
According to officials, bodies of the terrorists were recovered along with a cache of weapons from the site of the encounter.
The security forces launched cordon-and-search operation in the forest area, following which the terrorists hiding there opened fire on the forces.
Officials said, the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists is being ascertained. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Earlier, Indian army’s 19 Rashtriye Rifles, CRPF and SOG cordoned off the forest area which is situated between the two villages of Kharpora and Kashwan in Kokernag.
Soon after that, the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some gunshots amid the cordon leading to an encounter.
As a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile internet facility.
