Srinagar: At least two militants were killed by security forces in two separate gunfights in Kashmir on Tuesday.

"Security forces launched an operation against hiding militants in Pahlipora village of Shopian district during the night," a senior police official said.

One militant was killed in encounter while searches were still on, the official said.

"Another encounter started between the security forces and militants in Zonrishipora (Chowkibal) village of Kupwara district on Tuesday morning," he said.

One militant has been killed in the operation so far, the official said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army overnight violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of the state.

"The army resorted to unprovoked firing at our positions in Uri sector around 9.30 p.m. on Monday. The firing continued intermittently for half an hour," a defence source said.

"They used small arms and automatics. Our troops retaliated using same calibre weapons. There was no casualty or damage on our side,” it said.
