Two militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Two police personnel including a Sub Inspector of police were hurt in the operation, a security official said.
The official added that security forces launched an operation in Amargarh area of the district this morning following information about presence of militants in the area.
He said the encounter broke out during the cordon and search operations, resulting in the killing of two militants.
The identity and group affiliation was not yet ascertained, he said, adding an AK rifle and a pistol were among the weapons and other stores recovered from the scene of the gunbattle.
Yesterday, a local militant of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit was arrested in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. A pistol, magazine and two hand grenades were recovered from the militant, identified as Manzoor Ahmad.
Last week, two militants were killed in a gunfight at Hadoora village of Ganderbal District. Two AK-47 rifles, one grenade, six magazines with 180 rounds were recovered from the encounter sit.
