A day after law enforcement agencies claimed to have cracked down on the ISIS terror module in Lucknow following a blast in a passenger train near Bhopal, all intelligence agencies and police are now on alert suspecting some members may have planned something big on the occasion of Holi. The Delhi Police today issued an alert saying that two militants of the Khurasan module of the ISIS may have entered the national capital to evade action against them.

The alert issued by the Delhi Police said that both of them are suspected to be heavily armed.

The alert comes after the intelligence agencies shared inputs with the city police that militants of the ‘Khurasan module’ may have taken shelter in Delhi or in a neighbouring vicinity like Ghaziabad or Gurugram.

Agencies also said that the suspects may be planning to carry out an attack ahead of Holi in Delhi-NCR.

All Deputy Commissioners of Police have been directed to keep a tight vigil at religious places, airports, railway stations, bus stands and markets to avert any untoward incident. Besides, search operations are also underway in hotels in the capital’s Paharganj area.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up across the city including in sensitive areas near the Parliament, railway stations and bust stands. Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik also met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the Parliament and apprised him about the developments.

On the other hand, officials investigating the links of the module have found a laptop of Mohammed Faisal, who along with his brother Mohammed Imran were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of their links with the ISIS.

Officials said that they have discovered clips of how to make pressure bombs and mobile phone bombs from their laptop.

It is believed that the militants of the ‘Khurasan module’ were planning to target religious places in Uttar Pradesh. A shrine in Barbanki and the holy city of Varanasi were on their radar. Besides, a Buddhist shrine in Sarnath is also suspected to be part their plan.
