Pakistan has yet again violated the ceasefire in Mankot area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Wednesday morning – the second time in the last 48 hours.
The unprovoked firing from across the border started at around 2:30 am and continued till 5:30 am. No loss of life has been reported.
Intermittent firing is underway as Indian security forces are retaliating strongly to the provocation.
This comes after the ceasefire violation in Poonch on Monday, following which the Pakistan Army mutilated bodies of two Indian soldiers in the Krishna Ghati sector of the Poonch area.
DGMO Lt General AK Bhatt spoke to his Pakistan counterpart and expressed grave concern over the incident, saying the act was ‘inhuman’ and will draw an ‘unequivocal response’.
“Such dastardly and inhuman act is beyond any norms of civility and merits unequivocal condemnation and response,” he conveyed.
Lt General AK Bhatt also conveyed concern over the presence of BAT training camps in the close vicinity of LoC in PoK.
He further raised the issues of fire support provided by the Pakistani Army Posts to the Border Action Team (BAT) troopers who crossed over 250 meters into Indian territory and mutilated the bodied of Indian soldiers.
“Full fire support was provided by Pakistani Army Post located in the vicinity of incident site,” he told his counterpart.
Naik Subedar Paramjit Singh of 22 Sikh Regiment and Head Constable Prem Sagar of BSF's 200 Battalion were brutally killed by the BAT of Pakistani Army in an unprovoked firing as they were patrolling the LoC. The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati of the region.
Pakistan, however, has denied any such incident happened and urged that Indian Army to look inwards to probe the incident.
