RBI cuts lending rates by 25 basis points, EMIs set to fall
Mumbai: At the new fiscal's first bi-monthly monetary policy review today, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan cut interest rates by 25 basis points, thanks to a lower inflation outlook.The rate cut was widely expected by bankers and economists. Petrol prices hiked by Rs 2.19 a litre, diesel up by 98 paise per litre
New Delhi: Prices for petrol and diesel have been raised with effect from midnight tonight. While prices of petrol per litre have been hiked by Rs 2.19 per litre, diesel will get dearer by 98 paise per litre. “Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. has decided to effect the following price changes w.e.f midnight of 4th April / 5th April, 2016,” a press release by the state-owned oil major said this evening. Delhi to Agra in 100 minutes: India's Fastest Train, Gatimaan Express, launched
New Delhi: Gatimaan Express, India's first semi-high speed train, has been launched today. It was flagged off by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. The new express train will operate between the national capital's Hazrat Nizamuddin station and Agra Cantonment station. It will operate six days a week, except on Friday. The new express train can attain a maximum speed of 160 km per hour, according to the Ministry of Railways. Read More
PM Modi to launch 'Stand Up India' initiative at Noida today
Ghaziabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Noida today to launch 'Stand Up India' initiative. PM Modi will be here to distribute e-rickshaw and inaugurate a micro credit programme, a senior police official said here today. The initiative will promote entrepreneurship among the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Women, by facilitating loans in the range of Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs. 100 Lakhs. Each branch of a scheduled commercial bank shall facilitate at least two such loans. A web portal will also be launched for the initiative, to enable online registration and support services. Pathankot attack, 'a three-day drama' staged by Indians to malign Pakistan: JIT report
New Delhi: The Pakistan Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the deadly Pathankot terror attack has concluded that India had prior information about the attackers and that the incident was merely a ‘vicious propaganda’ by New Delhi against Islamabad as they lacked concrete evidence to support their claims. According to a report in Pakistan Today, the JIT has finalised its report on its recent visit to India which also mentioned that the neighbouring side ‘did not have any evidence’ that the attack was plotted on the Pakistani soil. The JIT will submit its report on the attack to Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif in the next few days. Read More
