Panaji: Fearing that the state of Goa could soon become like Punjab, Director General of Police Muktesh Chander today suggested that everyone in the state should watch the Abhishek Chaubey-directed movie 'Udta Punjab' which sheds light on the drug menace.
While speaking at a rally organised on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse, Chander said, "Wherever you see drugs, you will inform. You will not let Goa become 'Udta Punjab'," exhorting the audience into making a pledge.
"It is a very good movie about the bad effects of drugs and how life is wrecked by them. I believe every person should see it and 'Say No to Drugs', always, even for the first time..."
"The movie has shed light on a problem," Chander said after flagging off a marathon held on the occasion.
However, the officer refused to elaborate on the drugs and narcotics scene in Goa, which is regarded as a popular destination for narco-tourism.
"We have booked many cases and wherever there was a complaint we will take action," Chander said, also refusing to comment on whether the drug use and availability scenario had increased or decreased in the state.
