Agra: Akhilesh Yadav-led government in Uttar Pradesh is doing no better in terms of education system if it is compared to the neighbouring state of Bihar. A new incident came to light where in an associate professor was unable to spell the word ‘evaluation’ and an economics lecturer had no clue what ‘audit’ and ‘IMF’ meant; that tells the worrying situation of the state.
Some teachers reportedly even could not tell who the Chief Minster of UP was or when India got Independence. This reflects the deteriorating system of education in Uttar Pradesh.
This education system is becoming a challenge for the Akhilesh Yadav led government.
These flaws in Uttar Pradesh’s government came to light during the evaluation of the mark sheets of BA English, history and economics at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) on Monday.
It started when a centre’s evaluation coordinator started probing two teachers after doubting their credentials and interestingly both the teachers had valid degree and teach at colleges which are affiliated by UP universities.
When the UP governor and chancellor of the university Ram Naik was asked about this latest incident he told TOI, “Mail me the details of the teachers. I will get it inquired into and take suitable action.”
Shyam Bahadur, associate professor in English works at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly while Anil Kumar Pal, associate professor in Economics, is employed at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. Both of them failed to answer basic questions but both of them have been teaching for more than a decade.
“The English teacher used wrong grammar while writing a two-line application letter seeking permission for evaluating papers. And he spelled evaluation as 'evalluation'. Shyam Bahadur also failed to answer basic questions about the subject,” told evaluation coordinator and ITHM director Luvkush Mishra.
When asked to Pal about what 'IMF' stands for, he wrote ‘International Money Found’ and also failed to explain the meaning of ‘audit.’
“Both teachers have been blacklisted. It seems they have been evaluating papers for years and have extensive teaching experience,” Mishra added.
