Chennai: A horrifying incident came into light on Friday when police arrested a 35-year-old man, who murdered his 38-year-old wife and three stepdaughters on Tuesday and lived in the house with their bodies until Thursday night.
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the accused was identified as Chinnaraj (35), a native of Bargur in Krishnagiri district who worked in sweet stalls.
He lived with his wife Pandiammal (38) and her three daughters – Pavithra (19), Parimala (18) and Sneha (16) in a residential building near the Royapettah police station.
According to the report, Pandiammal was protecting her daughters from Chinnaraj ever since he started coming home drunk and used to ogle her daughters.
Chinnaraj came home drunk on Monday night after which he had a fight with his wife and was made to sleep outside.
He woke up in the early hours of Tuesday and smashed the heads of Pandiammal, Pavithra and Parimala, and strangled Sneha using a wire.
The police got a tip from Chinnaraj’s landlord on Thursday evening who noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and arrested the 35-year-old accused as he came to pick his scooter parked on Marina Beach.
