WhatsApp chatting leads to suicide of man, his friend
After being chided by his wife for chatting with a female friend, a 27-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in East Marredpally area of Secunderabad. Confirming the incident, the police on Sunday said the man was continuously chatting with a female friend on WhatsApp messaging service.
Upon receiving information about the death of the man, his 19-year-old female friend also ended her life by consuming toxic substance, a police official said.
According to the officials, K Shiva Kumar, an electrician by profession, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Saturday.
The man’s childhood friend C Vennela, got depressed upon learning about his death and consumed toxic substance on the same day. She died in hospital on Sunday, they said.
Kumar had got married on August 15, police said.
The couple used to quarrel over petty issues and Kumar's wife used to rebuke him for continuously chatting over the messaging app.
Kumar hung himself from a ceiling fan in his house on Saturday after he was depressed over the frequent quarrels, police said.
Two separate cases were registered by the police in the case.
