Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son Tej Pratap has filed divorce application in a Patna court. Tej Pratap has decided to part ways with wife Aishwarya just six months after their marriage.
Tej Pratap has filed for divorce under section 13 (1) (1a) of the Hindu Marriage Act. The court is likely to hear Tej Pratap's divorce petition on November 29. "I cannot give much details. I was only told by my client that he and his wife were not compatible and hence he wanted divorce," lawyer Yashwant Kumar Sharma, who filed the petition, said.
Tej Pratap and Aishwarya, eldest daughter of former minister Chandrika Rai and granddaughter of another former CM Daroga Prasad Rai, tied the knot on May 12 in Patna. The wedding ceremony was attended by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and other top leaders.
Aishwarya did her schooling from Bihar and has an MBA degree from Amity University, Noida.
The news of Tej Pratap's decision to take divorces has come at a time when the Yadav family has reportedly been fighting hard to keep itself together.
Reports about feud between Tej Pratap and younger brother and former Bihar minister Tejashwi Yadav have often made headlines. However, both the brothers have repeatedly denied any rift between them. Tej Pratap, who is an MLA from Mahua in Vaishali district, is said to be miffed from Tejashwi who has emerged as RJD's de facto leader in their father's absence.
The reports about his elder son filing for divorce is certain to disturb Lalu Yadav who is currently serving jail term after being convicted in multiple cases linked to multi-crore Fodder Scam.
