New Delhi: Right-wing Hindu leader Swami Chakrapani, in the news for burning a car that supposedly belonged to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been provided with Z-category security after four people were arrested for allegedly planning an attack on him.
Chakrapani received various threats from ‘D-company’ after which he approached the Union Home ministry. On December 9, he had won the car in an auction and later he burnt the vehicle publically.
“Burning the car would be symbolic of conducting the last rites of the terrorism that Dawood and his henchmen spread in the country, especially in Mumbai,” Chakrapani, also the petitioner in the Ram Janmabhoomi case, had said before setting the vehicle on flames.
“Earlier I wanted to convert the car into an ambulance, but when D-company's (Dawood gang's) henchmen threatened me to be ready to face the consequences, I decided to give a reply to him in his own language. I am going to torch it in full public view," he added.
Reports suggest that Chakrapani had earlier refused the security cover.
