Smriti Irani is the new Women and Child Development Minister

Smriti Irani, in 2019 general election, in Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh, won against Rahul Gandhi, congress candidate, by margin of 55,120 votes .

In Modi Sarkar 2.0, portfolios are announced on Friday afternoon. Smriti Irani who defeated Rahul Gandhi in Amethi has been given Minister of Women and Child Development. In previous government, she was a textile minister. 

Smriti Irani, in 2019 general election, in Amethi constituency of Uttar Pradesh, won against Rahul Gandhi, congress candidate, by margin of 55,120 votes.

Smriti Irani contested the 2014 general elections against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. However, Irani lost to Gandhi by 1,07,923 votes, a 12.32% margin.
