Patna: Laddan Miyan, a close aide of former RJD strongman Mohd. Shahabuddin and a key accused in Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan murder case today surrendered before a Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Siwan, where he was sent to a judicial custody of 14 days.
"He has surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Siwan district court," a district police officer said.
The development comes after the arrest of five people in connection with the brutal murder of the scribe on May 13 evening.
According to police, Laddan had hired Rohit Kumar and four others to carry out the murder of Rajan. Police has claimed that Rohit confessed to the crime following his arrest on May 25.
Laddan, a contract killer, was released from jail 15 days before Ranjan's murder. He had left Siwan with his family two hours after the crime.
However, Laddan, denied his involvement in the killing.
"I have nothing to do with Rajdeo's killing. I was wrongly framed in the case by police. Also I was not absconding. This is a conspiracy against me. I don’t know them (all five arrested so far in the case)," he said.
Police had earlier indicated that orders to kill Ranjan had come from Siwan jail, where Shahbuddin was lodged. Recently he was shifted to Bhagalpur jail from Siwan.
Rajdeo Ranjan, district bureau head of daily Hindustan, was shot dead by unidentified men when he was going on his motorcycle near fruit market on station road under town police station area of Siwan on May 13 evening.
