New Delhi: Days after writing a love letter to wife Indrani Mukerjea, former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea is now mulling divorce from his better half.
According to several media reports, Peter’s counsel Mihir Gheewala, the former Star India CEO had since the beginning of this year conveyed to him the marriage had ended and he was keen to get a divorce.
Gheewala further said that the initiation of the process for the same has been deferred since Peter’s bail plea is pending.
Peter’s bail application had been rejected once earlier. On Wednesday, the prosecution wrapped up its argument opposing the bail application again. The prosecution argued that the investigation was still underway and the CBI will be placing more documents related to the case before the court.
Peter was arrested in November last year in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case. Peter’s arrest followed that of his wife Indrani, who was nabbed for the murder of Sheena, her daughter from a previous marriage. Peter has been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. He has also been accused of destroying evidence and lying to protect his wife.
On Indrani’s birthday, Peter wrote to his wife where he compared their situation to that of the ill-fated lovers Romeo and Juliet. A glimpse of this letter was provided by sources to media, dated January 3.
At his bail plea hearing earlier this week, Peter's other counsel Aabad Ponda said a letter by him on Indrani's birthday was his first response since his arrest after she sent him 40 letters till December 2015.
Indrani was arrested in August last year along with her ex-husband Sanjeev and driver Shyamwar Rai for the murder of Sheena Bora.
