Chandigarh: In a step as a precautionary measure ahead of the protest by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Punjab government has imposed section 144 in Chandigarh.
AAP's youth wing has decided to gherao Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal's residence today to protest "anti-people and anti-farmers polices" of the SAD-BJP government.
Badal has cancelled all his appointments for today and the security personals, who were on leave today, have been called upon for duty.
Describing AAP's decison as "useless and undemocratic", Badal alleged that the sole motive of the party is to spread "disharmony" in the state.
Asserting that the doors of his house "are open for people across political parties and common man for the betterment of the state", Badal asked AAP leaders and others to discuss issues of Punjab with him.
"When the doors are open round the clock, the need to gherao residence is useless, without any essence and undemocratic," the CM said.
Terming the approach of AAP as a "move of anarchist", he said, "this undemocratic behaviour will not do any good to the state. It can increase people's problems," adding, "the sole motive of AAP is to spread disharmony in state, which will not be tolerated at any cost."
