The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear on January 22 a batch of review petitions against its earlier verdict allowing entry of women of all age groups into the Sabarimala temple,
However, the SC said that there will be no stay on the September 28 verdict which allowed entry of females in the shrine.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Justice A.M. Khanwilkar, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice Indu Malhotra decided to hear on January 22 the petitions seeking a recall of the September 28 order, reported news agency IANS.
The hearing will take place in an open court.
In Kerala, the apex court ruling has generated passions. Traditionalists have openly opposing the directive of the court.
