Days after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a political plunge, husband Robert Vadra too has hinted at "dedicating a larger role in serving the people." This assumes significance as Priyanka Gandhi, Vadra's wife and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's daughter, entered active politics as the in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha elections. At present, Vadra is being questioned in a money laundering case, with his name surfacing in other cases involving land deals as well.

"The years n months that I spent campaigning n working in different parts of the country, but mainly in UP, gave me a feeling to do more for the people n make smaller changes possible by me, in their areas n when they got to know me, the genuine love, affection n respect I earned was humbling," Vadra's Facebook post read.

"All these years of experience n learning cannot be just wasted and should be put to better use... once all these accusations n allegations are over, I feel I should dedicate a larger role in serving the people," he said.

49-year-old Vadra, who is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with money laundering and land deal cases, accused the government of targeting him to divert the attention from real issues confronting the country.

"More than a decade of different governments being after me, using and highlighting my name to divert real issues of the country," he said.

"People of the country gradually realised the modus and knew there was no truth in any of these allegations. People reach out and show respect and wish me luck for a better future," he added.
