Bengaluru: Following massive uproar after her resignation, the Congress-led state government in Karnataka has been forced to take notice and has been trying to persuade the lady officer, Anupama Shenoy, to stay on.

However, the lady cop is in no mood to give in. Post her resignation, she has been posting interesting messages on her Facebook account, which, understandably so, is giving Congress leaders sleepless nights.

"I have resigned, now minister will you?" Please wait, I will release the CD post midnight," she wrote in an earlier post.

Meanwhile, DSP Anupama Shenoy today refused to withdraw her resignation.

“I will meet SP today, will not take back my resignation,” Shenoy told reporters.

Facing flak over the resignation of Kudligi DSP, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said he has asked the state police chief to “convince her against quitting”.

Shenoy's resignation has not only sent flutters down Karnataka's political circles but has also created quite a storm on social media.

Terming the whole turn of events as unfortunate, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that government officials should not wage a war on the state government if they have any grievances.

“I wanted Anupama Shenoy to continue in the service. I told the DG and IGP not to accept her resignation and counsel to withdraw her resignation.

The lady cop has garnered immense support from fellow netizens. To show their solidarity for the cop, the supporters have even started a Facebook page titled ‘Justice for Anupama Shenoy’.

Anupama had tendered her resignation on Saturday after some people protested against the preventive detention of three people who wanted to extend their liquor shop which would have blocked a road leading to Ambedkar Bhavan.

Shenoy had put up cryptic statements such as “Karnataka Rum Rajya”, suggesting she was upset with the sway the liquor lobby has seemingly had over state administration for decades.

Two days later, on Monday, a post, purportedly by her, on Facebook read, “I have already quit, P T Parameshwar Naik, when will you quit?’’ Naik is the state Labour Minister, whose call Shenoy had put on hold in January.

A 2010 batch officer, Kudligi Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy resigned from her post on Saturday. Even though she cited personal reasons for her resignation, it is suspected that she was miffed with the local liquor lobby. She had taken three people into preventive detention over illegal construction of a liquor shop.

While Shenoy has not since been available for clarifications, the opposition BJP has gone public with its suspicions about her sudden decision.

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday charged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with silently backing some Congress workers who caused 'mental agony' on Anupama Shenoy, who resigned as DSP at Kudligi reportedly in protest against their interference in her official duties.

Shenoy, who had been transferred earlier this year for putting a minister's call on hold, on Tuesday created a stir on social media after she shared a three word Facebook post reading "Resigned and jobless" -- a smiling emoticon had been added to it.

Yedyurappa, in a statement in Bengaluru, charged that the mental agony perpetrated by Congress workers on Anupama Shenoy had the silent nod of the Congress government in general and Chief Minister in particular.

The former Chief Minister said the 'silence' of the Siddaramaiah government reflects its 'innate allergy' and hate towards sincere and efficient officers.
