Ram Rahim appeals in Punjab and Haryana HC against Panchkula CBI Court verdict in rape case

Panchkula Special CBI Court had sentenced Ram Rahim to 20 years in jail and fined him Rs 30 lakh for raping two women 15 years ago

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Singh on Monday appealed in Punjab and Haryana High Court against the verdict of Panchkula's Special CBI Court convicting him in a rape case against him.

On August 28, the Panchkula Special CBI Court had sentenced Ram Rahim to 20 years in jail and fined him Rs 30 lakh for raping two women 15 years ago.

A special CBI court had on August 25 convicted the Dera chief in a 15-year-old rape case. The court had held the Dera chief guilty under three sections of the Indian penal code.

Ram Rahim is currently lodged in Rohtak's Sunaria jail.
