Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday used a survey report to target PM Narendra Modi over the issue of women safety. Rahul took to Twitter to highlight that India's has been ranked below countries like Afghanistan and Syria in women safety.

Taking a sharp dig at PM Modi's fitness video that he released a few days ago, Rahul Gandhi said that while the PM is busy in maintaining his health, safety of women continues to be a cause of worry.

"While our PM tiptoes around his garden making Yoga videos, India leads Afghanistan, Syria & Saudi Arabia in rape & violence against women. What a shame for our country!" Rahul Gandhi said while attaching a recent report of survey conducted by Thomson Reuters Foundation on women safety.

The survey underlined that India was most most dangerous country for women in terms of sexual violence, human trafficking and cultural traditions.

Rahul Gandhi's jab came as PM Modi went hammer and tongs attacking his family and the Congress during an event organised by Maharashtra BJP in Mumbai on the occasion of 43rd anniversary of the imposition of Emergency.

"Congress can never improve. For promotion of self interest, they destroyed their own party," PM Modi said.

"We would never have imagined that in the lust for power and the mad devotion to a family, those who talk big things about democracy and Constitution had turned the country into a jail. Big leaders were put behind bars," Modi said.

"An atmosphere of fear prevailed then. We will rarely find another example of how the Constitution was misused as a tool for a family," he added.
