Rahul Gandhi's roadshow in Madhya Pradesh

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday held a roadshow in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh. The 8-kilometre roadshow commenced from Jabalpur district of the state after Gandhi payed obeisance to the Narmada River. The road show however, also witnessed hundreds of protesters dotting the route terming him a "Narmada bhakt".

The Congress president had flown from Dumna Airport in Jabalpur to Uma Ghat on the banks of the Narmada. He also performed "aarti" amid chants of "Jai Narmade" by party functionaries.

After performing the puja, Gandhi handed over a gift to a young girl seated on a stage, following which he began his roadshow from Abdul Hamid Chowk.

A party functionary was also seen handing over a yellow envelope to the young girl.

The roadshow covered areas in three Assembly constituencies, namely Jabalpur West, Jabalpur North Central and Jabalpur East (SC) seats.

While two of these seats are held by the BJP, the third has a Congress MLA.

His roadshow concluded with an address at Jabalpur’s Raddi Chowk.

Gandhi, during his campaign in poll-bound MP, has earlier been dubbed "Shiv bhakt", following his return from the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, and "Ram bhakt" after visiting Satna and Rewa districts of the state.

State Congress chief Kamal Nath has promised of developing "Ram Gaman Path" in Satna district where Rama is believed to have wandered while on a 14-year exile, if the party is voted to power.

Madhya Pradesh goes to polls on November 28 while votes will be counted on December 11.
