Counting of votes for the Purvi Champaran Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and as per trends, Radha Mohan Singh of BJP is leading on the seat.
The Purvi Champaran Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Radha Mohan Singh of BJP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Radha Mohan Singh beat Binod Kumar Srivastava of RJD by receiving 48.70 per cent of the votes cast in this constituency.
At the time of the previous Lok Sabha election in 2014, Purvi Champaran had 1,452,963 registered electors -- 788,561 of them male and 664,402 female. The constituency had seen a 56.62 per cent voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
In Purvi Champaran, the male voter turnout was 56.06 per cent and 57.28 per cent female voters turned out for voting.
The Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the sixth phase of the election -- on May 12 and recorded a voter turnout of 59.89 per cent.
The seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls 2019 covered a total of 543 constituencies. Voting in the first phase was conducted on April 11.
Simultaneous elections were held to the assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha -- the results for which will also be out today.
