It's been three days since 10-year-old Deepak fell into a sewer in Patna but he is yet to traced. Teams of NDRF and SDRF personnel have been working continuously for the last 72 hours, however, they have failed to locate Deepak.
The kid fell through a manhole in Shri Krishna Puri locality in the capital city at around 1.30 pm on Saturday while returning home after delivering lunch to his father Guddu Ram.
A nearby sump house was shut off within minutes of his fall.
The rescue teams were carrying out their operations from two ends and so far about 80 per cent of the total length of the sewer and the operation was being hampered by "highly muddy water and silt," an NDRF official said.
Local residents have been camping at the spot in large numbers and alleged that the manhole had been "lying uncovered for months".
In what highlights the sorry of state of affairs, neither the municipal corporation nor any other agency have any idea about the layout of the sewage line. The sewage was constructed in 1969 and locals say it has not been cleaned even once since then.
