The Pakistan army today resorted to indiscriminate firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Using mortars, automatics and small arms they targeted Indian positions, including civilian facilities in Karmara area, police sources said.

According to reports, Indian positions were strongly and effectively retaliating and the firing exchanges were still on. The firing started at around 7 am.

This comes a day after an Army jawan and a civilian porter were killed in Pakistani firing at forward areas along the LoC in the same area.

"The Pakistan army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms and automatics from 1035 hours in Krishnagati Sector along the Line of Control (LoC)", a defence spokesman had said.
