One CRPF jawan was dead and several pilgrims suffered injuries when a landslide hit the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Jammu and Kashmir today.
According to reports, the incident took place after a huge rock fell near Gate No. 3 of Vaishno Devi Bhawan.
The deceased has been identified as a head constable of CRPF, news agency ANI reported.
The yatra to the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi has been suspended for now.
Police, Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board team and CRPF have reached the incident site and a rescue operation is underway.
Earlier this month, at least four people including three pilgrims and one pony owner were killed in a landslide on the track to the hilltop Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
Following the incident, the management of Shrine Board had suspended the yatra during the night because of apprehension of landslides along the mountainous track.
