Man arrested for blackmailing sister-in-law
In a shocking incident, a 29-year-old man was on Saturday arrested on charges of seeking sexual favours from his sister-in-law and blackmailing her, police said. The accused, identified as Litu Mallick, used to reside in Raghudeipur village of Odisha and threatened his 25-year-old relative of uploading her objectionable pictures on social media. The incident was reported from Odisha's Kendrapara district, police said.
Following his threats, the woman lodged a complaint with the police on March 7, said Inspector of Derabish Police Station, Umakant Nayak.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused sought sexual favours from her and blackmailed her of uploading her objectionable pictures on social media if she refused to give in to his amorous advances.
The accused was later arrested on the basis of the complaint filed by the woman after which he confessed to the crime, the police inspector said.
The accused was booked under different sections of IPC and relevant provisions of Information Technology Act, 2000, the officer said.
