Noida Metro Aqua Line to be inaugurated by UP CM Yogi Adityanath tomorrow; security tightened

Noida Metro Aqua Line will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on January 25. Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri will also accompany the chief minister at the inauguration.

Noida Metro's Aqua Line to be inaugurated tomorrow

Noida Metro's Aqua line is all set to be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday. Ahead of the inauguration of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro Rail line, security has been tightened in and around the area for chief minister's visit. According to reports, Union housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri will also accompany the chief minister at the inauguration of the metro.

After the inauguration, the chief minister will travel 14 stations to the last station at the Greater Noida Depot in the metro. The Union minister is also set to take a ride with the CM, it said.

According to a report, the rail corridor, which would run between Sector 51 station in Noida and the Depot Station in Greater Noida will have a total of 21 stations - 15 of them in Noida and six in Greater Noida.

Route and speed of Aqua Line

The Aqua line, which will have 19 rakes with 4 cars each, will halt on the Sector 76, 101, 81, NSEZ, Noida Sector 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, and Greater Noida's Knowledge Park II, Pari Chowk, Alpha 1, Delta 1, GNIDA Office and Depot metro stations, said the report.

The trains are designed to run at a maximum speed of 80 kmph, clocking an average speed of 37.5 kmph.

Interchanging sections of Aqua Line 

The Aqua Line of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will have interchange sections at various stations. Commuters will have to get down at the Sector 52 metro station of the Blue Line and reach the Noida Sector 51 station of the Aqua Line, covering a stretch of around 200 metres.

Noida Metro Aqua Line to start on Friday: Fares and smart cards

The minimum fares for the Aqua Line will Rs. 9 and the maximum Rs. 50, the NMRC had announced in December 2018. Commuters could buy QR-coded paper tickets or use smart cards, the report said. The smart cards being used for the Delhi Metro will, however, not be valid for travel in the Noida Metro.

Similar to the Delhi Metro, there would be different seats for ladies in the Noida Metro. Seats reserved for women, senior citizens and differently abled persons would have different colours.

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), both ends of the train would have dedicated space for wheelchair in driving trailer cars.

The NMRC will be assisted by the DMRC in operating the Aqua Line, over the next one year.

The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) had conducted the final and mandatory safety inspection of the corridor last month, which gave its approval to the NMRC for launching commercial operations.

The Aqua Line, whose construction started in May 2015 and was completed in record time, was initially expected to be opened for public in November 2018, then December.
