No violation of Indian air space, says IAF after reports of Pak fighter jets

The Indian Air Force has categorically denied any violation of its air space after reports claimed that Pakistan flew fighter jets over the Siachen Glacier today. The IAF has categorically denied Pakistan's claims of flying jet fighters over Siachen on the Indian side, news agencies reported today.

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets made flights near Siachen Glacier this morning, Samaa TV reported. Quoting sources, the report said all of PAF's forward operating bases have been made fully operational.

Mirage jets of PAF are part of exercises since the forward base was made operational.

In New Delhi, IAF sources said there was no violation of India's air space.

The report came a day after the Indian Army announced that it launched "punitive fire assaults" on Pakistani positions across the Line of Control earlier this month, inflicting some damage.

Pakistan's Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman visited the forward airbase in Skardu today and flew a Mirage jet, the report said.

According to PAF, Aman met the pilots and technical staff of the fighting force. A fighter squadron carried out higher and lower altitude flights.

The Siachen glacier is the highest battleground on the earth. It is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalayan mountains where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends.

The purported move by Pakistan Air Force comes a day after the Indian Army released a video of Pakistani bunkers being destroyed by Indian forces at forward posts in Naushera sector across the LoC.

In a video clip provided by the Army, heavy artillery bombing on Pakistani bunkers can be seen which destroyed the Pakistani posts.

The Pakistan Army, however, remained in a state of denial and rejected the claims of any strike.

Reacting to Indian action, Abdul Basit, Pakistani High Commissioner to India, said he had not received any such report from Islamabad and “there was nothing in it to brag about.”

Last year, when the Army carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting terror camps after Uri attack in which 19 soldiers were killed, Pakistan was quick to question the authenticity of the claims.
