New Delhi: Delhi police has not registered any FIR in connection with the “morphed” video of the controversial February 9 event at JNU where anti-India slogans were allegedly raised, government informed Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

“As reported by Delhi Police, no FIR has been registered as no evidence has come on record in this regard,” Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Chaudhary said in a written reply.

Samajwadi Party MP Neeraj Shekhar had sought details of FIR registered against those who had “morphed” the video of the JNU event. The minister said a few results from the forensic lab are awaited and the investigation is in progress.

Shekhar had also asked what were the reasons for the failure of the central intelligence agencies and Delhi Police to identify and arrest the persons with their faces covered with scarves who allegedly raised anti-India slogans at the event.

The minister replied that an FIR has been registered under sections 124A (sedition), 147 (rioting), 149 (offence committed by any member of unlawful assembly in prosecution of common object), 120B/34 (criminal conspiracy/acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC at Vasant Kunj police station and Delhi Police’s Special Cell is investigating it.

“Efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the persons with scarf on their faces who were raising anti-national slogans,” he said.
