The National Investigating Agency on Monday arrested an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) operative for terror attack on CRPF camp in December, last year. The NIA nabbed accused Fayaz Ahmad Magray for attack on CRPF Group Centre Lethpora on the interveining night of December 30-31.
In this attack, 5 CRPF personnel were martyred and 3 were grievously injured. Three terrorists, identified as Fardeen Ahmad Khandey, Manzoor Baba and a Pakistani terrorist namely Abdul Shakoor resident of Rawalakot area of Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir, were killed in the attack.
Arrested accused Fayaz Ahmad Magray is an active over the ground worker the JeM, the agency sources said. He is a key conspirator who provided logistical support such as providing shelter to the terrorists and conducting reconnaissance of the CRPF Group centre, Lethpora before the terrorist attack, they said In 2001 also, he was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) by Jammu and Kashmir Police and he remained under detention for 16 months.
The accused will be produced in the Special NIA Court, Jammu for seeking police custody for further investigation and unearthing of the larger conspiracy.
