Mutilating soldiers’ bodies ‘dastardly and inhumane’, will draw ‘unequivocal response’: Indian DGMO tells Pak counterpart

A day after Pakistani troopers beheaded two Indian soldiers, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both the neighbouring sides spoke over the hotline regarding the situation along the Line of Control (LoC).

DGMO Lt General AK Bhatt spoke to his Pakistan counterpart and expressed grave concern over the incident, saying the act was ‘inhuman’ and will draw an ‘unequivocal response’.

“Such dastardly and inhuman act is beyond any norms of civility and merits unequivocal condemnation and response,” he conveyed. 

Lt General AK Bhatt also conveyed concern over the presence of BAT training camps in the close vicinity of LoC in PoK. 

He further raised the issues of fire support provided by the Pakistani Army Posts to the Border Action Team (BAT) troopers who crossed over 250 meters into Indian territory and mutilated the bodied of Indian soldiers.

“Full fire support was provided by Pakistani Army Post located in the vicinity of incident site,” he told his counterpart. 

Naik Subedar Paramjit Singh of 22 Sikh Regiment and Head Constable Prem Sagar of BSF's 200 Battalion were brutally killed by the BAT of Pakistani Army in an unprovoked firing as they were patrolling the LoC. The incident took place in the Krishna Ghati of the region.

Pakistan, however, has denied any such incident happened and urged that Indian Army to look inwards to probe the incident. 

In a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army’s media affairs wing, called it a routine weekly hotline contact between Islamabad told New Delhi and said that that there had been no ceasefire violation or crossing of the LoC by Pakistani troops nor mutilation of the bodies of Indian soldiers.

“Indian authorities were (also) told that there is unnecessary media hype following the allegations, and that Pakistan remains fully committed to maintain peace and tranquillity along the LoC and expects the same from the India side,” the ISPR statement added.

 

DGMO Pakistan Army highlighted that Pakistan Army is a professional military outfit and upholds the highest standards of conduct. 

“Allegations of mutilation are Indian attempt to divert the attention of world from situation within the Valley,”the statement further said.
