In a shocking case, the body of 20-year-old girl was found in a bag in suburban Malad on Monday afternoon. The victim has been identified as Mansi Dixit, police said.
According to a police official, Dixit hailed from Rajasthan and was living in Mumbai to work as a model. Her body was found stuffed in a travelling bag left at Mindspace, a commercial hub, in Malad (West). Her hands and legs were tied and body was folded to fit in the bag.
The police have nabbed a man, identified as Muzamil Said, for her murder.
The case came to light after a taxi driver, who allegedly drove her killer to the location from a nearby street, turned around and spotted the bag abandoned on the curb. He called the police and helped them track down the accused.
According to police, the accused had taken the cab from Malad bank street and told the driver to stop near Khadi area as he had changed his mind and wanted to take a rickshaw instead. After disembarking, he left the bag on the curb and left in a three-wheeler.
But when the taxi driver took a u-turn, he spotted the bag and identified as the one that was just in his vehicle and decided to call the police, leading to an investigation.
Police sent the body for autopsy. Officials of Bangurnagar police station are conducting further probe.
