Mumbai Police today arrested two managers of ‘1-Above’ in connection with the fire that claimed 14 lives on December 29.
The arrested persons have been identified as Kevin Bava and Lisbon Lopez. A criminal case was registered against them with NM Joshi Marg Police after the tragedy last week.
Police said that the duo will be produced before Bhoiwada court later today and their police remand will be sought.
"We have arrested two managers Kevin and Lopes from 1Above," Mumbai Police spokesperson and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Deepak Deoraj, said.
The official, however, refused to divulge further details stating that investigation is in the primary stage.
Another official said that the two will be interrogated about the incident and that why no required fire safety measures were put in place.
Earlier on Saturday, BMC officials had demolished illegal structures at 314 sites and sealed seven hotels. Around 417 LPG cylinders were also seized during the action.
14 people were killed and more than 20 others were hurt when a major fire broke out in a pub in the Kamla Mills Compound in the wee hours on Friday. More than 12 fire tenders were rushed to fight the blaze which was brought under control after 4 hours.
