A 28-year-old woman, her friends were amongst those killed in a massive fire that led to loss of life of at least 15 people in the wee hours of Friday at a rooftop restaurant pub in Mumbai's Kamala Mills compound.
The blaze broke out on the third floor of the four-storey building on Senapati Bapat Marg at around 12.30 am and quickly spread to another surrounding pub and a restaurant. Reports say Khushbu Bansal and her friends who had come to attend her birthday bash were busy dancing at the rooftop restaurant pub The Mojo when the incident took place.
A dozen of the dead in the major fire are women, most of them in their twenties and early thirties, reports added.
Meanwhile, the postmortem report has revealed that all the deaths were due to suffocation.
The police have booked the owner of the restaurant for negligence and other charges for the fire, suspected to be triggered by an electric short-circuit. The building, in Central Mumbai, houses some commercial establishments including hotels.
