PM Modi in Mirzapur LIVE
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the second day of his two-day tour to Uttar Pradesh, launched key projects in Mirzapur today. He dedicated the Bansagar canal project to the nation, and laid the foundation stone of Mirzapur Medical College. The prime minister also addressed a public meeting in Mirzapur.
Accusing the opposition parties of shedding "crocodile tears' for farmers, PM Modi questioned them as to why didn't they pay heed to irrigation projects which were left incomplete during their tenure.
Talking of Centre's move to hike MSP, the prime minister said that those indulging in politics, did not have time to work on such a crucial issue.
Modi said that his government was taking effective steps to bridge the gap between the rich and poor, results of which will be soon seen.
The Mirzapur Lok Sabha constituency is represented by Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally of the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh and at the Centre.
BJP president Amit Shah also visited Mirzapur recently.
The Apna Dal faction had said the prime minister's Mirzapur visit indicated a further cementing of ties between the two allies.
