Two terrorists were killed and a police constable was martyred in an encounter between security forces and militants in north Kashmir's Bandipora district today.
According to a police official, the gunfight broke out in Mir Mohalla village of Hajin area of the district this morning.
The official added that security forces cordoned off the village following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there.
When the forces were conducting the searches the militants opened fire on them, triggering a gun battle, the official said, adding that Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Zahir Abbas was martyred in the gunbattle.
The encounter was going on when reports last came in, the official said, adding that further details were awaited.
