A security official sustained a bullet injury after terrorists attacked a police patrol party guarding the Amarnath Yatra near the bus stand in Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday. Constable Ghulam Hassan was shot in the neck by militants from close range at Anantnag bus stand, a police official said.
The injured policeman was taken to district hospital Anantnag from where he was referred to 92 Base Hospital of the Army in view of his "critical" condition.
Reports said militants resorted to indiscriminate firing at the police party. The area has been cordoned off and search operations are underway to neutralise the terrorists.
Further details are awaited.
Earlier today, the security forces gunned down two militants, purportedly of the Zakir Musa group in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
