Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti responded to a volley of questions from India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma in his show “Aap Ki Adalat”. From India-Pakistan dialogue to possibilities of war between the two countries, Mehbooba spoke at length over issues concerning the country. Mehbooba, who has been advocating dialogue even after the deadly Pulwama terror attack, was also posed questions over her soft approach to the neighbouring country.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

11:17 PM: We shouldn't fall into the trap of provocation

11:16 PM: Dialogue, dialogue, dialogue...there can be no other solution

11:15 PM: If dialogue fails, people don't die; but during war people from both sides die

11:13 PM: Govt has not done a big thing by withdrawing security of separatists

11:12 PM: Withdrawing security of separatists "childish gesture", says Mehbooba

11:11 PM: Govt gave them (separatists) security, not me

10:52 PM: Why should I go (to Pakistan)? You want Kashmir without Kashmiris? That is why some people are asking Kashmiris to go to Pakistan? We have our land, our homes here. Why should we go? Let those who are fooling people in the name of war go to Pakistan

10:50 PM: India should start dialogue with Pakistan so that such incidents do not happen in future

10:48 PM: Pakistani PM Imran Khan should take action against Jaish-e-Mohammed, and India should give all evidences of Jaish involvement to Pakistan.

10:46 PM: Pakistan would have acted on terrorists  for attacks in their own country if they had much control

10:44 PM: If Pakistan has enough control, then how are terror acts taking place there? There are more terror acts in Pakistan than India

10:38 PM: I am not in favour of confrontation or war

10:36 PM: Today we only have a single (Jawahar) tunnel linking Srinagar to Jammu. Before independence, J&K was the hub for trade in Central Asia

10:33 PM: China is building the CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) in Pakistan. We in Kashmir are in a strategic position. Why can't we open Kargil-Skardu(POK) road? Why can't we have Srinagar-Xinjiang road

10:32 PM: Rajat Sharma points out that former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has described Imran Khan as a "puppet" of the army, she replies: "If that is so, it is better. It will put both their PM and Army on the same page, and it would be easier to deal with them. When Gen. Musharraf was in power, trade routes were opened between both sides of Kashmir. Today Imran Khan has the support of his army, the Kartarpur corridor was being opened up. We should appreciate this."

10:31 PM: Imran Khan is an emancipated man who wants his country to prosper, but he should know that Pakistan can never prosper through enmity with India

10:25 PM: Today there are the ideas of 'azadi', of Pakistan, in the minds of some young Kashmiris, but then we must find ways to throw out those ideas and give them better ideas. In order to do that, we must break away all fetters from Kashmir, and open up all roads

10:24 PM: If we have to wage war, we must wage war of ideas in Kashmir. We should find out why we, as part of a big nation, failed to inculcate right ideas in minds of young Kashmiris, & why our neighbour manages to brainwash them with its own ideas sitting far away

10:23 PM: Many former Indian generals have already said, that there cannot be a military solution. It is up to the political leadership to decide

10:21 PM: It is easier to start a war, but it is very difficult to end a war. Take it from me in writing, whether it is today, or tomorrow, or after 10 or 20 years, the Kashmir issue has to be resolved through dialogue

10:20 PM: Even after defeating Pakistan in wars, terrorism continued. Dialogue is the only way out

10:19 PM: If we have to stop bloodshed in Kashmir, only dialogue can be a lasting solution, there is no other way out. War is not a solution. There have been wars in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999 but after every conflict, there was dialogue

10:16 PM: Many former Indian generals have already said, that there cannot be a military solution. It is up to the political leadership to decide

10:14 PM: It is easier to start a war, but it is very difficult to end a war. Take it from me in writing, whether it is today, or tomorrow, or after 10 or 20 years, the Kashmir issue has to be resolved through dialogue

10:12 PM: Imran Khan made a big mistake by not condemning Pulwama attack

10:11 PM: Pakistan must take action against Jaish-e-Mohammed, when they have claimed responsibility of terror attack

10:10 PM: Bring Pakistan on table, give evidence...ask why did they do so. Give new Pak PM Imran Khan a chance, says Mehbooba Mufti

10:06 PM: A war will only inflict casualties on both sides, it will not give us a long term solution, says Mehbooba

10:05 PM: Need to find permanent solution to Kashmir issue, if we want to stop bloodshed, says Mehbooba Mufti
