Faridabad: Setting a new world record, over one lakh people performed yoga together in Haryana's Faridabad, marking the International Day of Yoga, said organisers.
"Over one lakh persons from Haryana today (Tuesday) set a new world record by performing yoga together at a district-level function organised in Faridabad on the occasion of 'International Yoga Day'," a Haryana government spokesman said in Chandigarh.
Held under the supervision of yoga guru Ramdev, the mega yoga event was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah and Union Minister Krishan Pal.
Shah said that the enthusiasm shown by such a huge number of people towards yoga indicates the success of the campaign to promote this ancient practice.
"With the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people in 170 countries have adopted yoga as a part of their lives and today and International Yoga Day is being celebrated in 193 countries," he said.
Faridabad, a bustling industrial and commercial city, is adjoining the national capital New Delhi.
