In a horrific incident reported from Japiur, a man threw acid on a woman at a mall here following which the lady was admitted to a hospital earlier today.
The man, believed to an auto rickshaw driver, has been identified as Mahboob. The incident took place at the Hyper City Mall also known as Triton Mall where the victim is employed.
According to police, the woman suffered multiple burn injuries. Her condition is out of danger and recovering at the burn ward of SMS Hospital in the city.
Police said that immediately after Mahboob threw acid on the victim, people present at the mall caught him. Later, he was handed over to the police.
The victim worked as a housekeeper at the mall, police said, adding that her colleague also sustained injuries in the incident.
Preliminary enquiry suggested that the two knew each-other. The woman is married.
Mahboob is a native of Sikar.
Police said that an investigation is underway to ascertain under what circumstances Mahbood threw acid on the lady.
