Bihar police on Thursday arrested a man masquerading as an IPS officer and instructing policemen deployed in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was to visit Patna soon after.

The police said that the man was in a police uniform and was instructing policemen near the Secretariat crossing in Patna, hours before Prime Minister was to arrive to participate in a function marking the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.

Locals said that the man was passing instructions as an IPS officer for the last two days. Witnesses said that he had even sitting at the police post near the crossing.

The interrogation of the man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, is currently underway at a police station in the state capital.

Modi’s visit to Bihar came amid a heightened threat from Khalistani terror groups. The Prime Minister arrived here in an Indian Air Force aircraft to attend Prakash Utsav, said Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj.

He was received by Governor Ramnath Kovind and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
