Man held with lover for trying to kill wife near Ganga Canal

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said Yashwant Rana alias Sunny, a native of Doghat village in Baghpat district, was arrested along with his girlfriend Anshul after some people informed police about their suspicious movement at a secluded place near the canal.

A man has been arrested along with his girlfriend while trying to dump his critically injured wife at a secluded place near Ganga Canal in Murad Nagar after shooting at her, the police said on Thursday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said Yashwant Rana alias Sunny, a native of Doghat village in Baghpat district, was arrested along with his girlfriend Anshul after some people informed police about their suspicious movement at a secluded place near the canal.

As Rana was trying to dump his wife Shivani, 27 after firing at her, she raised an alarm, attracting attention of the people, who informed police.

The police swung into action and soon intercepted Rana's car, in which he was driving around looking for a secluded place to dump his injured wife.

Rana admitted during interrogation by police that the injured woman was his wife to whom married three years ago but was not getting along with her.

Accordingly, he was trying to get rid of her, he told police, adding he had brought her to Nivari on the pretext of an outing and had shot at her near Ganga canal some time ago.

The police rushed the injured woman to a hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
