Madhepura Lok Sabha seat: Dinesh Chandra Yadav leads

​Counting of votes for the Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and Dinesh Chandra Yadav is set to register an astounding win over his nearest rival Sharad Yadav.

Madhepura Lok Sabha seat: Dinesh Chandra Yadav leads

Counting of votes for the Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end. JD(U) leader Dinesh Chandra Yadav has taken a lead over RJD leader Sharad Yadav.

The Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav of RJD. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav beat Sharad Yadav of JD (U) by receiving 35.70 per cent of the votes cast in this constituency.

At the time of the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Madhepura had 1,725,578 registered electors -- 899,271 of them male and 826,307 female. The constituency had seen a 59.97 per cent voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The male voter turnout was 56.59 per cent and 63.64 per cent female voters turned out for voting. 

The Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the third phase of the election -- on April 23 and recorded a voter turnout of 60.81 per cent.

The seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls 2019 covered a total of 543 constituencies. Voting in the first phase was conducted on April 11. 

Simultaneous elections were held to the assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha -- the results for which will also be out today.
