Congress chief Rahul Gandhi is likely to offer his resignation in view of his party's crushing defeat at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha election, on Saturday (May 25).

According to sources, the party has convened a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision making body of the party at 11 am on Saturday.

The party bagged only 52 seats in this election.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former prime minister Manmohan Singh, are expected to attend the meeting.
There have already been voices within the party to introspect on why it failed to reach out to the people.
